A recent press release was issued by the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands that the Deputy commissioner of lands will be visiting the island of North Caicos on Friday, 18th September 2009, between the hours of 10:30 and 4:00p.m. at the office of the District Commissioner.

According to the press release, it was brought to the attention of the ministry that a number of persons had been paying for standard conditional purchase leases and some have paid for their freehold title transfers but have not received their official documentation. Hence, wanted to rectify this situation before it gets any further. Anyone who may be in this situation is asked to visit the office on Friday, and to walk along with any documents and any proof of payment so that the issue will be rectified.

At the last sitting of our Turks and Caicos Real Estate Association meeting our guest speaker was ms Juliette Gooding of the 911 Emergency Services. She informed us of their deadline to have the service up and running by December of this year and updated us on the vigorous training procedures that the employees are undergoing. Much work is being done and ms Gooding is working in liaison with the Police department, Fire, Road traffic, customs and immigration, Hospitals and all other government departments. Based on the information received, I will say in my opinion was very informative and reassuring.  Thankfully, at the end of this year the Turks and Caicos Islands will have a properly functioning 911 system which will make residents as well as visitors feel even more safe on the island.

1st September 2009

Today is the first of September which marks the beginning of the peak of hurricane season. Thankfully, we can report that since the season began we in the Turks and Caicos have not been under any severe hurricane threat. Hopefully, the year will pass without a hurricane reaching the islands and the Turks and Caicos (TCI) will again be bless like the previous years before Hurricane Ike and Hanna.

On another note, It is raining in TCI. It has not rained in a while and hence I am enjoying the cool feeling in the air. This is much needed rain, the land needs a bit of a cooling and we need a change of climate if just for a day.
